Rep. Austin Scott, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 8th district, has been actively addressing issues pertinent to rural America and military personnel through his recent social media posts. Born in Augusta, Georgia, and a graduate of the University of Georgia, Scott has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Jim Marshall.

On December 9, 2024, Rep. Austin Scott highlighted the critical role of American farmers in rural economies. He stated, “The economy in rural America starts and stops with the American farmer.” He further mentioned his op-ed in AgriPulse emphasizing disaster relief for farmers affected by Hurricane Helene.

The following day, on December 10, 2024, he reiterated the urgency for disaster relief for farmers during an appearance on Mornings with Maria. In his tweet, he expressed that “Our farmers need disaster relief now.” He also discussed other topics such as the threat posed by Communist China.

Later on December 10, 2024, Rep. Scott celebrated legislative achievements concerning military personnel. He noted that “The FY25 NDAA is a win for Georgia’s military personnel and their families.”
