Bridge replacement begins on Brown Bridge Road

Newton County has begun a bridge replacement and realignment project on Brown Bridge Road, also known as County Road 511, over Snapping Shoals Creek.

Trees and brush are being cleared on the right of way off Brown Bridge Road before a new bridge will be built directly next to the existing bridge.

The project is expected to take two years. There will be no off-site detours during construction and only occasional lane closures.

The $4.9 million project is funded 80 percent by GDOT and 20 percent by Newton County’s 2017 SPLOST.
