Hazardous cold temperatures and wind chills are forecast for the upcoming week, with multiple hard freezes expected in the region. According to local weather authorities, the recent cold front has moved out of the area, but temperatures will remain low throughout the day. Highs are predicted to be in the 40s, while winds may make it feel closer to the 30s.
“Tonight, a Hard Freeze is expected for nearly the entire area outside of exposed areas like St. Joseph Peninsula and St. George Island. Lows will range from 17 to 25 tonight. Combined with winds around 5-10 mph, wind chills will drop to 9 to 20 across the area.”
Additional freeze warnings or cold weather advisories are anticipated through the week as conditions remain cold overnight. There is at least a medium chance of hard freezes for most inland locations each night through the weekend, except for Thursday night into Friday morning.
Another cold front is projected to move through later in the week and into the weekend, which could require further extreme cold watches or warnings if colder air surges into the area again.
Residents are advised to take precautions against hazardous conditions brought on by low temperatures and wind chills.
