Newton County Probate Judge Melanie Bell swore into oath two Newton County Commissioners prior to their start of the 2023 term.

District 4 Commissioner J.C. Henderson was sworn in on Jan. 5 to his seventh term. Henderson became the first ever seven-term Commissioner in Newton County’s history. He was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 1996.

District 2 Commissioner Demond Mason was sworn in on Dec. 21 to his second term. Mason was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2018
