FOIA Request to Albany State University Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Albany State University. Our request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students and related policies.

Specifically, we have asked for documents or lists that reveal the number of current students who are Chinese Nationals, categorized by their department of study. If such details are protected, we have requested the total number instead. Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we are interested in identifying recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Moreover, our request includes any policies or procedures that outline how Albany State University monitors its students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our role in providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable.

We look forward to receiving a response from Albany State University and will continue to report on this matter as it develops.
