A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Worth County Election Department in Georgia on February 5, 2025. The request was made by Albany Standard, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request asked for detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. Specifically, we at Albany Standard sought the following data:

– Candidates’ first, middle, and last names
– The office each candidate is running for
– Jurisdiction of the office
– Party affiliation of each candidate

In addition to this, we also requested all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is crucial for us at Albany Standard. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq.

We are eagerly awaiting a response from the Worth County Election Department and will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of local government affairs.
