GA U.S. House District 2 issued the following announcement on May 25.

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement after the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas that killed nineteen children and two teachers as well as injuring others:

“I was shocked to hear about yet another school shooting, this time in Uvalde, Texas. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families, students, faculty, and members of the Uvalde community who have been traumatized by this senseless and heinous violence which has claimed so many innocent lives.

“We greatly appreciate the heroes — teachers and first responders — who risked their lives to protect the children in their care and community. The anguish of parents, families, and communities demands action by elected leaders at all levels of government to stop the mass shootings, including several these past few weeks, which continue to occur across the country.”
