Notice of Property Tax Increase – General Fund

Notice of Property Tax Increase – General Fund
0Comments

In compliance with the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights state law, the Cobb County School District announces it has tentatively adopted a general fund millage rate of 18.90 mills.

The Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors assesses all county property in compliance with state law. If property is reassessed upward, then the Cobb County School District will see an increase in tax revenue.

To collect the same revenue as last year and avoid an increase in taxes of 13.05%, the millage rate would have to be decreased to 16.719 mills, defined as the “roll-back” rate described in the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights. In accordance with Georgia Law, the Cobb County Board of Education must conduct 3 public hearings to receive public comments concerning this issue if it does not adopt the roll-back millage rate.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings to be held:

  • Thursday, July 7, 2022
  • 11:30 AM – Session 1
  • 6:05 PM – Session 2
  • Boardroom – 514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060

Time and place of additional public hearing:

  • Thursday, July 14, 2022
  • 6:30 PM – Session 3
  •  Boardroom – 514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060

The Cobb County Board of Education will establish millage rates at a meeting:

  • Thursday, July 14, 2022
  • 7:00 PM
  • Boardroom – 514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060
