Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on July 22.
We're excited to partner with Albany Technical College to support their EMT/Paramedicine Program. Phoebe is funding $30,000 in scholarships to help address a critical shortage of emergency medical technicians in our area. Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital CEO Joe Austin and VP for Education Dr. Tracy Suber joined Albany Tech leaders, students and area EMS workers for today's announcement.
Phoebe's Medical Director for Emergency Services Dr. Eddie Black said, “Emergency medical technicians are vital healthcare professionals, and we need more of them. Every day in our ER, I see their lifesaving work. At Phoebe, we want to do all we can to ensure we provide outstanding emergency care and improve the overall delivery of healthcare in southwest Georgia. We believe this partnership will help achieve those goals, and we look forward to students taking advantage of this opportunity.”
