City of Newton issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
The Newton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of new playground and fitness equipment for Fairview Park during its Oct. 5 Regular Meeting.
The new equipment is expected to arrive in December and be installed in January. The equipment will go toward the continued improvements in Fairview Park, which will also receive safety lighting.
The new equipment will be purchased with funds from the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) recreation funds.
