COUNTY OF DOUGHERTY: Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit (ADDU) Seizes Multiple Drugs During Traffic Detail, Leading to Arrest

County of Dougherty issued the following announcement on Dec. 21. 

According to Major Ryan Ward, Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit Commander, on December 17, 2021, Interdiction Officers were conducting a traffic detail in the area of West Oakridge Drive and Hemlock Drive, when they spotted a vehicle with dark tinted windows, which is a violation of Georgia Law and led to the vehicle being stopped. During the traffic stop, the Investigator smelled a strong odor of Marijuana emanating from the inside of the vehicle and both the driver and passenger were asked to exit the vehicle.

During the vehicle search, the following items were seized: 1.06 Pounds of Marijuana; .380 Handgun; and a Digital Scale.

Maurice Walker, 47-year-old Black Male, was arrested and charged with the following offenses: Possession of Marijuana With the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

Kenneth Kent, 46-year-old Black Male, was arrested and charged with the following offenses: Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Tools During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Window Glazing/Tint Violation.
