CITY OF NEWTON: External Appropriations Application

City of Newton issued the following announcement on Jan. 21. 

Newton County asks that any organization requesting appropriations for the upcoming Budget apply under the County’s policy.

The application for an appropriation from the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget is requested no later than Feb. 14, 2022.

Applications may be picked up in the Newton County Financial Services office located in the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Ga., filled out online here External Appropriations Applicationor sent to blwhite@co.newton.ga.us, subject line Appropriation.

Non-profit entities applying for an external appropriation must be designated and recognized as a non-profit entity for the 12 months prior to seeking an external appropriation. Such evidence of certification must be provided along with the application for external appropriations. Non-profit entities must provide documentation from both the state government and the federal government evidencing the entity’s tax status. Entities not operating or having a period of non-compliance with legal requirements for the full 12-month period prior to award of external appropriations is into eligible to apply for an appropriation that year.

Entities seeking eternal appropriation must provide the last fiscal year’s operating budget detailing costs and credits. Additionally, the entity shall provide organization creation documents, identify all board members and provide certified minutes from at least three Board meetings in the previous year. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to deny a request for any external appropriation for any reason at all.
