Albany Technical College issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.
NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY
Friday, February 4
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year, however most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented with healthy lifestyle changes according to the American Heart Association. Many of us, both men and women, have developed unhealthy habits since the COVID-19 epidemic began that has taken a toll on our physical and mental health. February is American Heart Month and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement wants you to reclaim your rhythm by creating healthier habits that work best for you to give you the best chance at life.
At Albany Technical College, we support this event to bring recognition to the importance of overall health.
How you can participate:
- Wear red on February 4, 2022.
- Take at least a 10-minute walk around campus, your home, etc.
- Snap a photo of you starting your new health journey and use the hashtag #WearRedDay & post to your social media accounts.
- Most importantly, continue to incorporate some form of exercise in your routine daily (talk to your doctor about what is best for you) and look at other ways you can live healthier by going to https://www.goredforwomen.org/en/healthy-living
