COUNTY OF DOUGHERTY: Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit (ADDU) Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

County of Dougherty issued the following announcement on Apr. 13. 

According to Major Ryan Ward, on April 13, 2022, at approximately 12:49 p.m., an Interdiction Officer with the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit (ADDU) conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of West Gordon Avenue. A gold Nissan Altima was stopped due to a window tint violation. After speaking with the driver, who was identified as Vernon Harris, Black Male, there was enough information gathered to deploy K9 Jax. During the deployment, K9 Jax did alert on the vehicle, upon which time the investigator detained the driver.

While conducting a search of the vehicle, the following items were recovered/seized:

  • 7.43 pounds of Marijuana was found in several bags
  • Five digital scales
  • $1,588 in cash
The driver, Vernon Harris, was taken into custody and subsequently, transported to the Dougherty County Jail, where he was charged with the following:

  • Window tint or glazing;
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects;
  • Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute
