Augusta Technical College issued the following announcement on Apr. 15.

Augusta Technical College and the CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. (CSRA EOA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to coordinate the delivery of educational and wraparound support services through the college’s campuses and sites.

HUD homebuyer education workshops and financial capacity workshops will be offered by the CSRA EOA to assist students in achieving long-term wealth building goals, and linkages to student support services will help aid in their success at Augusta Technical College.

The college will host trainings and workshops on campus for participants that are referred through the CSRA EOA, and the CSRA EOA will provide all the supplies, training materials, speakers, etc. needed for the workshops and training events.

"CSRA EOA, Inc. will be working with Augusta Technical College to expand opportunities for wealth building and financial stability in underserved minority communities by increasing access to homebuyer education, housing counseling, and financial capabilities building workshops. Augusta Technical College provides excellent education and career opportunities for its students, and through this partnership, students and their families will be provided with the education and information needed to make more informed housing choices," stated Ms. Lola W. Johnson, Executive Director of CSRA EOA.

The CSRA EOA, Inc. will also provide funds for wraparound support services such as childcare, transportation for childcare, and other services including, but not limited to transportation-bus tokens, auto repair, agency vans, emergency food, personal hygiene products, and uniforms for work.

“We’re excited to partner with the CSRA EOA. Their commitment to our students and families throughout the CSRA is timely given the challenges of the past two years. We know their resources will be well received and utilized by all program participants,” said Dr. Jermaine Whirl, President of Augusta Technical College.
