County of Newton issued the following announcement on Apr. 25.
The Board of Commissioners proclaimed April 2022 National County Government Appreciation Month in Newton County during its recent meeting, Tuesday, April 19.
The Board recognized the approximately 700 people who make up Newton County Government’s departments and offices and the work they do to provide services to the 113,000 residents of Newton County and the tens of thousands of visitors who come here each year.
The National Association of Counties annually designates April as a time to recognize the more than 315 million people who provide essential services to the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs.
“The people who work for Newton County, or as I like to refer to everyone as my #OneNewton family, deserve every recognition we can give them,” Newton County Chairman Marcello Banes said. “Our employees not only are the hardest working in the state but they love their job and they take great pride in coming to work every day. It truly has been a blessing to be around all of the Newton County employees and see first-hand the hard work and dedication put in by everyone who keeps our county running and protect us each and every day.
