Newton County residents are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED for the fastest way to stay alert in emergency situations.

Newton County’s Emergency Management Agency is making the CodeRED communication system available to its residents for no charge. To sign up text AlertNewtonGA to 99411 or visit https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/BF879E7AA795

CodeRED is a communication tool that enables public safety personnel to notify Newton County residents and businesses by telephone, text, email, and social media of time sensitive information, emergencies, or urgent notifications.

The emergency notification application keeps residents informed of the following categories:

  • Missing children or missing persons
  • Criminal activity
  • Fires
  • Drinking water contamination
  • Utility outages
  • Traffic conditions
  • Various threats to people, property or the environment
  • Severe weather warnings
“We want our residents to be safe as possible during all types of emergency situations said Wendy Patterson of the Newton County Emergency Management Agency. “CodeRed can reach hundreds of thousands of individuals in minutes to ensure information such as evacuation notices, missing persons, inclement weather advisories, boil water advisories, etc.”
