The goal throughout September is to come together, celebrate individuals in recovery, and offer hope to those who are struggling. National Recovery Month reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.
Albany Technical College offers a 62-credit hour degree for Addiction and Substance Abuse Counseling. The program provides students with the educational coursework to become addiction counselors. It will also train students to provide counseling, career advice, and therapeutic services to substance abusers and their families. Students will receive training in drug, alcohol, and crisis intervention and courses in psychology and communication.
