Dougherty County District 3 Commissioner, Clinton Johnson, has been selected by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Association of County Commissioners Georgia (ACCG) to present on county’s usage of American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds at a conference in Washington, D.C. on October 19, 2022. Johnson was one of only five commissioners across the state of Georgia to present.
Johnson’s presentation will include respective usage of ARPA funds and planned or anticipated usage of funds available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act. Dougherty County has invested a sizeable portion of their funds towards the Mass Vaccination events for COVID-19 held in the fall of 2020, which provided vaccines for nearly 5,000 area residents. Additionally, the County has earmarked funds for the City of Albany, Georgia to assist with their sewer upgrade.
“It is vitally important that the citizens of Georgia are represented by informed, knowledgeable, and an intimately involved group of bipartisan policymakers, who will make the voices of all Georgians heard at Capitol Hill,” said Clinton Johnson, Dougherty County Commissioner for District 3 and ACCG Third Vice President and DCA Board Member for the Second Congressional District. “I would like to thank ACCG, NACo, and the White House Communities In Action Team for making it possible to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), American Recovery Program Program Act (ARPA), and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, along with other program initiatives that will provide our citizens with relief for the rising costs of food, fuel, and medicine, as well as provide expanded services for the mental health and substance abuse crisis and explore more ways we can address the lack of affordable housing stock in our communities.”
