Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Oct. 29

The Newton County Domestic Violence Task Force is hosting its second annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on the Covington Square Saturday, Oct. 29.

The event is designed to raise public awareness about the prevalence of domestic/family violence and to educate everyone in the community. Since domestic violence knows no boundaries and crosses all demographics, everyone needs education for true societal change to occur and everyone needs to learn how to speak up to prevent violence.

Participants, including men, are invited to walk the mile around the Covington Square in their walking shoes or grab a pair of high heels for the walk. The walk will take place from noon to 1 p.m.

Registration is free but a donation of bottled water, Damp Rid, Raid Ant and Roach Spray, Lysol Disinfectant Spray, gallon bleach, paper towels, toilet paper, bed pillows, twin/full sheet sets, twin/full comforters, 2T-5T socks for children and twin/full bed frames for the victims of domestic violence are greatly appreciated.

Donations can be brought to the Newton County Historic Courthouse, 1124 Clark Street, Covington Ga Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or on the day of the event.

You can register here.
