BOC approves $5 million for capitol projects

The Newton County Board of Commissioners approved, by a vote of 3-2, $5 million for capitol projects request via the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) during its Regular Meeting Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The money, which falls under the Loss Revenue criteria of ARPA will go to fund items such as public safety vehicles, infrastructure, buildings repairs and improvements and more. 

The $5 million is part of the $21 million in ARPA funds allocated to Newton County by the federal government.
