FOIA Request Sent to Terrell County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Terrell County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request, issued by Albany Standard, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought information about the methods used by the department to count votes.

Specifically, Albany Standard requested a list of methods employed for vote counting. If manual counting is being used, the organization asked for an estimated number of people who would be working on election night.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Albany Standard believe that access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating this information to the public.

The FOIA request is part of our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of local government affairs and ensure transparency in electoral processes.
