FOIA Request Sent to Worth County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Worth County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In a bid to promote transparency and accountability in the electoral process, Albany Standard has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the Worth County Election Department in Georgia. The request was made under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., on October 29, 2024.

The FOIA request specifically seeks information about the methods employed by the department to count votes during elections. If manual counting is used, Albany Standard has also requested an estimate of the number of personnel that will be working on election night.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Albany Standard believe access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the Worth County Election Department and remain committed to keeping our readers informed about developments in this matter.
