Student Spotlight: Lucia Pena
Lucia Pena, a Tifton, Georgia native, is a senior Social Work major with a minor in Spanish. Pena is a member of Albany State University’s (ASU) Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program, Dual Enrollment Mentoring Organization (D.E.M.O), the Student Social Work Association (SSWA), the Cultural Exchange Club, and the Alpha Kappa Mu honors society (AKMu). She also volunteers one weekend a month to assister church in their monthly food sale.

Albany State University Moves-in Students for New Academic Year
Albany State University (ASU) welcomes more than 6,000 students back to campus this week. The eleven residence halls for campus housing are expected to be at capacity with approximately 2,400 students living on both the East and West Campuses.

Albany State University’s Summer Success Academy Flourishes
This summer, Albany State University (ASU) welcomed 40 freshmen on campus as part of the fourth Summer Success Academy (SSA) cohort, a 30% increase from the previous year. The program has also seen a nearly 1000% increase in male participation over the last two years, from two participants in 2020 to 19 participants this summer. Additionally, 78% of the SSA students completed the semester with a 3.0 GPA or above.
