Cost of college went up for all students at Albany State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.1 percent for 2018-19 at Albany State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Georgia residents paid $5,735 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $60 more than the $5,675 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 182.4 percent more than residents this year, or $16,196. Their price tag grew 0.4 percent from $16,136 in 2017-18.

About 93 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Georgia residents. And about 7 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,205 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.1 million and 1,179 students took out student loans totaling more than $7 million.

Including all undergraduates (6,371), 4,159 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.5 million, and 4,064 students took out $26.4 million in federal student loans.
