Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College issued the following announcement on Apr. 25.

Jerry Milligan, a business major from Odum, has been selected as the Student of Distinction from the Stafford School of Business at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Students of Distinction are chosen by faculty through a competitive process.  They must first be a Superior or Distinguished Honor student with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.  Many other factors are considered during the selection, including involvement in engaged academic learning activities, active participation on campus in clubs and school/college activities, service to the community, leadership among peers, and strong interpersonal skills.

Milligan serves as the Stafford School of Business senator in the ABAC Student Government Association.  He has also served as an officer and member of both The Entrepreneurs Club and Stafford Business Club.

Members of the Library Committee know Milligan as a vocal and engaged member of their group, who frequently serves as emcee for business school events such as Honors Night and the Industry Showcase.

Milligan has also helped his classmates as an inaugural mentor for the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring program in the Stafford School of Business. Described by references as being motivated and an engaged student who seeks to get more out of his education than just checking a “course completed” box, he is someone who conducts events with the ease of a trained moderator.

Milligan is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever asked to serve the school as a student leader. His friendly persona and magnetic personality seem to draw students and faculty to him.

Dr. Renata Elad, Dean of the Stafford School of Business, presented Milligan with a medallion and a certificate at the recent Academic Awards ceremony in Tift Hall.
