Baker County Education: Fewer students enrolled in Baker County K12 School in 2022-23 school year

The only school in Baker County faced declining enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 277 students in the halls of Baker County K12 School, 1.1% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Baker County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54% of them were male, and 46% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 58% of the Baker County K12 School total enrollment.

Baker County K12 School has a main office in Newton and is the only school within Baker County.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
