Baker County Education: More students enrolled in Baker County School District in 2022-23 school year

The only school district in Baker County had rising enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 282 students in the halls of Baker County School District, 0.7% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Baker County bucked the state's trend compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54% of them were male, and 46% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 59% of the Baker County School District's total enrollment.

Baker County School District has a main office in Newton and is the only school district within Baker County.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
